The brave last stand of the Dwarf-king Azaghâl against the terrible wyrm Glaurung. The dwarves of Belegost wore grim and terrible maille and masks that warded off the dragon fire. though they hewed the snake with their swords and axes, they did not bite, save for Azaghâl, who drove his long knife into his belly. Glaurung the terrible then fled and many hosts of men, elves and dwarves were saved, though the dwarf king was slain, and his body carried from the field.
